“ Rust ridden
fenders and doors full of dings,
Somehow he can fix about anything ”
Somehow he can fix about anything ”
(Not All Heroes Wear Capes - Owl City)
I
meant, he really do. My dad. He can fix literally anything. There was this one
time when we were on a holiday and my brother accidentally broke his glasses. It
happened on our first day there (we were on a 14 days holiday, to make matter
worse). I don’t know how he will be able to see for the rest of the holiday. So
my dad immediately took his glasses, doing this and that (I don’t know what he did, I have a
suspicion that he might have some fixed everything-pixie dust left from Disney
World up on his sleeves or anything) and BAM! My brother’s glasses was fixed! And
it’s as good as new! I could not believe my eyes.
He
fixed me, who once was a sad, insecure goofball. He fixed me with his love. He
gave me a new set of eyes that able to see the beauty of life through books,
words, poetry, and writings. He taught me to appreciate life.
He
who said "I'm glad he broke your heart, because you learnt how to survive
through it. I’m also grateful for hardships that life gave you. Trust me that
all of those will grows you, it will mature you, and shape you to be the best
that you can be."
He
taught us to question everything and find answers on our own. To believe what
we believe. He once said to me : We shall appreciate people who's brave enough
to live. Life with all of its complexity. A series of heartbreaks,
disappointments, its ups and its downs.
Funny
thing is when I was young, I did not understand a particular subject. I asked
him to which his response was “You should try to look that up on your moduls
first (a.k.a textbook), instead of immediately asking me.” And ended up did not give me the answer
anyway. Which surprised me because honestly I asked him because I still could
not fathom that particular subject after I read it in my moduls xD
That
funny, kind and sweet father of mine. His love for life is larger than me, you,
and all of us. His love for life is even larger than life itself.
