There Will Be Time


          Do any of you watch How I Met Your Mother? It’s an American sitcom about 5 very close friends hanging out at MacLaren’s in Manhattan, New York City for almost every single night of their adult lives. Always on that particular bar in that one, specific booth. The sitcom played by Josh Radnor, Cobie Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris, Jason Segel and Alyson Hannigan or you might know them as Ted Mosby, Robin Scherbatzky, Barney Stinson, Marshall Eriksen and Lily Aldrin. That brilliant movie was created by Carter Bays and Craig Thomas.

          And if you are familiar with all of them, which episode is your favorite? My most treasured one is the last chapter of season 9 (chapter 23, I believe?). In that last chapter Robin asked Ted :

Robin:
How do you do this Ted? How do you sit out here all night, in the cold, and still have faith that your pumpkin's going to show up?
Ted:
Look I know the odds are the love of my life isn't going to magically walk through that door in a pumpkin costume at 2:43 in the morning. But it seems just as nice as anything to just, you know, sit and wait.

          Ted do meet the love of his life in that last chapter, by the way. The “mother” is the bass player at Robin and Barney’s wedding. The universe somehow sent him the “gigantic sign” that Tracy is the one for him. And on their wedding day Ted says “It was a long, difficult road. But I'm glad it was long and difficult, because if I hadn't gone through hell to get there, the lesson might not have been as clear.” And he added “You see, kids, right from the moment I met your mom I knew, I have to love this woman as much as I can, for as long as I can and I can never stop loving her, not even for a second. I carried that lesson through every stupid fight we ever had, every 5 a.m. Christmas morning, every sleepy Sunday afternoon, every speed bump, every pang of jealousy or boredom or uncertainty that came our way. I carried that lesson with me.”


          So there will be time. For everything. For your life to finally made sense. For your “one” to finally showed up and your love to finally bloom. There will be time. You just have to believe that it will. Well, happy waiting and don’t forget to have fun along the way! You got this!

Label-free

I mentioned sixth sense in one of my previous post, the “What Should I do” one. True, I stated that the longer we know someone, we’ll develop some kind of sixth sense that’ll help us “communicate” with them. A wordless communication, so to say. That mind reader, gesture-talk kind of things. But I must say that that telepathy is a double edged sword. Why? Because it has its own downside. Opinion. Allow me to quote another saying of Haemin Sunim : “when we think we already know someone, we stop making effort to know them better. Consider when you think you already know your loved ones and when you do, you are failing to see them as they are right now, you see them through the prism of previously held opinions , instead.” Those words quoted from his “Love for Imperfect Things” book, and again, I could not believe how true it is. Learn to Let Go

Let go; letting go :           “An act of letting go; to free yourselves from self-destructive things. Be it a thought, a person, a feeling and anything of the sorts. To make peace with yourself.”           Letting go of someone or something truly is not an easy task, so easy to say yet extremely difficult to do. I just had a very tough day as me and my friend shouldered something we shouldn’t have. We got caught up in the middle of something so bad, which may affect our future (in a bad way, of course).
